OUR HISTORY

SINCE 1985

1981-1985 CONSTRUCTION

Located in the heart of the capital, in the 1st arrondissement, our establishment was built on a strategic site: Les Halles. Close to public transportation and just a few minutes walk from numerous Parisian monuments including the Louvre, Novotel Paris les Halles benefits from a neighborhood rich in history, ensuring a lasting local presence.

1986 FILMING OF THE MOVIE TERMINUS

Over the years, our establishment has been the setting for numerous film shoots, such as “Terminus”, the start of the 9th Paris-Alger-Dakar Rally, and meetings with personalities like Gérard Jugnot. Truly a fancy hotel!

1987 OLD KITCHEN RENOVATION

1990 THE FAMILY SUITE

In 1990, Novotel Paris les Halles inaugurated its first Suite, establishing itself as a must-visit destination for families in Paris. Spacious and bright, it features a separate living room and can accommodate up to 5 people.

In 2016, our entire event space was redesigned by Jim Hamilton, a Scottish designer, to offer our guests a unique experience in a cozy and vintage ambiance, combining beautiful materials that echo the historic

Halles district (mosaic, wrought iron, steel, arcade).

Hamilton, Halles and Home are our references behind the name Atelier H.

AN ELEGANT AND MODERN ADDRESS

A historic Parisian address with a contemporary spirit, staged by Jim Hamilton.

A NEIGHBORHOOD IN CONSTANT EVOLUTION

After supplying Paris for over 800 years, the historic markets of Les Halles were demolished in 1969 and moved to Rungis and La Villette due to lack of space. This operation, nicknamed the “move of the century”, lasted over 10 years and marked the neighborhood. The Forum de Halles, as we have known it in recent years, was inaugurated in 1979 but lasted only about thirty years as Les Halles were transformed by the arrival of the Canopée in 2016.

OUR ARTISTIC SIGNATURE

Our Scottish architect Jim Hamilton preserved many artistic elements from the old Les Halles markets. Mosaics, materials, glass - many details are hidden in the architecture and design of our hotel.

Have you noticed the black and white rosettes on the floor of Atelier H? They were once found in the columns of Les Halles.

In 2021, we created our Green Team, composed of representatives from different hotel services, to advance our daily sustainable missions.

We are committed to respecting our three sustainability pillars: managing our energy consumption, managing and reducing waste, and raising awareness among our guests and staff.

OUR SUSTAINABLE NEWS

“Clothes dropped off at collection points are redistributed free of charge to the most vulnerable.” TRUE & FALSE!

EXPLANATIONS: dropping off your clothes at a collection point also means contributing to a circular model and reducing pressure on the environment.

At Novotel Paris les Halles, we are one of the 47,000 collection points in France and have been the first hotel partner of Refashion for the past 6 months.

Depending on their condition, the collected textiles will either be given away for free, sold in thrift stores or charity shops, recycled, or even used as fuel.
In the end, 5.5 billion liters of water are saved — the equivalent of the annual consumption of 150,000 people.

HAND IN HAND TO BUILD TOMORROW

Novotel Paris les Halles is a long-standing partner of the AIDA association, and supporting them during the holiday season is especially close to our hearts.

The association’s mission: supporting young people who are facing illness, during and after their treatments.

This year, we renewed our initiatives to bring the holiday spirit into the hospital!

Hand in hand, we help volunteers wrap gifts, we create heartfelt holiday cards, and we sell festive postcards, with all proceeds donated to AIDA.
